Sorry for the late update :)

Sorry everyone
I had not been updating these days
Been busy

Had open house on saturday
In charge of the gate control and crowd control, it was a hot day.
Was with 2 of the 3-3 NPCC boys at the back gate directing traffic.
Saw some parents anxiously asking what is the school cut-off point.

After the open house, the next few days I had been doing up materials for next year teaching classes.
Namely, 1-6, 1-7, 2-8, 4-8 and 4-1. Looking forward to take the graduating classes all the way through 'O' level and hope they had realise the importance to study. Time is running out.

Sorry I had not been able to upload any photos.
Just realise those photos were not well taken. Sorry Chewyen

Looking forward for my taiwan trip :)
Need a break... next year will be rough, hope I will be okie.

Gonna miss my 4-2 next year!!!
Without Mr Lew, all of you must still work hard!!

The Mayonnaise Jar

It is sunday and nothing much had happen..
Just trying to finish my work and rest while preparing for tml retreat at Ngee Ann Poly.

Had something to share with all my students.
I feel this is very meaningful so try to understand this..

The Mayonnaise Jar

When things in your life seem
,  almost too much to handle,
When 24 Hours in a day is not enough,
Remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class

And had some  items in  front of him.
When the class began, wordlessly,
He picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar
and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students, if the jar was full.
They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured
them into the jar.   He shook the jar lightly.
The pebbles rolled into the open Areas between the golf balls.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full.  They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar.
Of course, the sand filled up everything else.
He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with a unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced  two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents  into the jar, effectively
filling the empty space between the sand.  The students laughed.

'Now,' said the professor,   as the laughter subsided,
'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.
The golf balls are the important things - family,
children, health, Friends, and Favorite passions –
Things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, Your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and  car.

The sand is everything else --The small stuff.

'If you put the sand into the jar first,'  He continued,
'there is no room for  the pebbles or the golf balls.
The same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff,
You will never have room for the things that are important to you.

So...

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.
Play With your children.
Take time to get medical checkups.
Take your partner out to dinner.

There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.

'Take care of the golf balls first --
The things that really matter.
Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled.
'I'm glad you asked'.

It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life  may seem,
there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with  a friend.'

Batik Shirt..

Today went to find the batik shirt at Geylang Serai and Joo Chiat Complex
But end up with nothing cos all I could find are malay costumes!!
Mmmm.... never I ask my friend to buy, whatever they buy, I just wear ba...

Wonder why there is a need for theme, it just a simple dinner...

Looking forward to Red Cross Camp... wonder why..
Mr Lew will be doing the night duty for both days... so if anyone are unable to sleep can find me to chit chat hahahaha.... BUT not chewyen : X

Extended cirriculum just ended BUT please you still need to work hard to polish all the sec 3 work.
Try not to work part time if possible.

Disappointed with the 3-1 boys

It is a long long day....
Morning had invigilation till noon, I packet some lunch and rush back to school for the booster program.
Finish up my nice lunch and get ready for the booster program...

However, some of them are late and that is not all..
Everyone except beca and shannon seems to forget about the promise they made to their parents.
They were all playing and none were serious...
Hais so sad..

If you want to be back in the office asking for retained again next year, so be it.
With that level of committments and determination, I dun think you can improve.

Tml... Mr lew will not be in school
Having invigilation in the afternoon.

Hope everyone who had chinese today, did well :)
**Beca, remember what Mr Lew said, MUST remember!

It is all misunderstanding...

Today was a erm.... hectic day even thou it is just in the morning...
Gave Bharatth the test and I started to search for my 7 students.
Found 3 in the hall.. phew but 4 boys were missing therefore I started my phone calling.... der...
Call all of them and their parents, they are going fishing at Bedok.. zzzz...
Immediately get them back to school because they did not attend the seminar so they need clock hours.

For the 3 who came for the seminar, sorry to disappoint you when I told you that you need to stay back after seminar, it is just some mis-communication. Mr Lew try to settle all the problems..."I did"

So in the end got Kaixin to msg the 2 girls, tell them they can go back after seminar.
Mr Lew will always fight for my students in terms of benefits and incentives, so trust me k.

Tired...
Enjoy your weekend, I really need one too.

*****
So many types of teachers around in the world.
There are people who want their students to perform but sometimes.....
To teachers, students should be the core and work towards their goal..
Putting too much effort sometimes can make others feel ......
You may not understand what I am saying but its fine...
EMO week for Mr Lew..
I just want to be a committed and passionate teacher, you can have the rest, I just want my students.
All the credits goes to you, I dun care...

Need to improve!!

The write-up is in the post below..
I did something very wrong today..
Again I feel useless and stupid..
Seriously I need to improve and be a better teacher!!

I would let my students effort go to waste because of me.
Will not!

Mr Lew got to work harder and harder...
All my fault today... no excuse :(

Brief summary of titration.

Brief summary of the main points in carrying out titration.

General:
Washing of the burette and pipette with tap water, distilled water and followed by the respective solutions.
If the questions state "titrate Q with P", you should fill your burette with solution P.
MAKE SURE YOU USED THE CORRECT CHEMICALS!!

Pipette:
  1. When using the pipette to suck up the solution, the tip must be submerged into the solution or else air will enter the pipette.
  2. When adjusting the solution level of the pipette using the pipette pump, make sure the tip of the pipette is not submerged in the solution.
  3. When you are trying to get the last drop of solution from the pipette, tap gently the tip on the bottom of the conical flask.

Burette:
  1. When filling up the burette with chemicals, place the burette on a stool to ensure accuracy of the readings.
  2. When adjusting the solution level in the burette, remove the funnel from the burette.
  3. Make sure the burette tip is filled with solution and no bubbles is in the burette.

Titration:
  1. Swirl the conical flask constantly when doing titration.
  2. Stop titration when the difference in the 2 readings (volume of solution used) is within 0.1
  3. Take the average between the 2 readings to use in the subsequent calculation.

Results:
Present your results in the following format

All values in the table had to be in 1 decimal place.
In this case the solution in the burette is chemical P, if the chemical used is different, please edit the last row.

Calculation section:
  • Practical 10 worksheet: Identify acid and calculate concentration
  • Practical 11 worksheet: Calculate percentage purity
  • To make sure that you have no problems with calculation, try to solve both practical worksheets again.
  • Revision of VA worksheets is highly recommended.

Others:
  • Please make sure your bench is tidy and arrange the chemicals and apparatus in order.
  • Dropper and glass rod should be placed in a beaker filled with distilled water.
  • You should not use more than 3 drops of indicator.
  • Make sure you have good time management.

Another day of invigilation

Reminder to all class 3-1 students!
Please bring your TITRATION PROCEDURE NOTES tml.
Mrs Yeo will go through your EOY paper and also revise on SPA.

This morning I have invigilation till 10am
Reach school at 10am and saw 2-1 girls hanging at the canteen waiting for the release of streaming results.
Drop by the library and see Khia Lynn, Becca and Sharen working hard, hope they will continue this effort.
Did not see Shannon and Neil..
Went back for invigilation and end at 4pm.

Will have invigilation from 3pm tml, so morning will be in school to finish up some work.

Work hard for the coming SPA and 'O' level Chinese!
